Word+Style celebrated 10 years in business in 2022. Read about how Natalie Pavey grew her company over a decade, transitioning from working as a freelance translator to providing comprehensive French-English translation services to an array of clients across the world.
*Please note that NP Translations changed its business name to Word Style Translations on April 1, 2024.
As the well-known adage goes, “Success is a journey, not a destination.”
The Word+Style brand story began when Natalie Pavey, President and Certified French-to-English Translator, began serving her first translation clients in 2012. Before diving headfirst into the field of translation, Natalie had set several destinations for herself across the world, always with the goal of putting her knowledge of French to good use and following her passions for the environment and greater social good.
First, her love of languages led her to France as a study abroad student where she immersed herself in French culture for two semesters. Following university, Natalie spent two years in francophone West Africa as a US Peace Corps volunteer, teaching English and organizing gender and development activities. In 2009, she began a one and a half-year stint in Alaska (USA) as a park-ranger interpreter, following her passion for the environment and in the pursuit of a career that would allow her to use her foreign-language skills. Subsequently, after moving to Quebec City in 2012, she discovered freelance translation and fell in love with the challenge of working with words every day to produce the quality translations that clients seek. Finally, in 2015, she moved to Saint John, New Brunswick, where she has firmly rooted her now full-fledged translation business.
Equipped with the knowledge she acquired throughout her travels and in her work as a professional translator, Natalie continually seeks out purpose-driven clients in keeping with her values and ideals. She now relies regularly on a network of qualified colleagues who hold the same professional values of reliability, integrity, and pride in their work, to serve her ever-growing client base and provide effective translations that help her clients along their path to success.
