Kelli Fraser holds an M.A. in Translation and a B.A. in Anthropology and French. Her wanderlust began at the age of 16 when she was chosen to go on an exchange to French-speaking Switzerland. Subsequent study and travel opportunities led her to improve her French in France, Belgium, and Montreal. Kelli has worked in translation and editing for over 17 years and has worked overseas for a university, the Government of Canada, the United Nations and a variety of non-governmental organizations. Her additional areas of expertise include workshop facilitation, teaching, and project management. Kelli also holds a certificate in Intercultural Communication and won a government award for a project that involved collaboration with over 200 academics and organizations on a major written work on Canadian history and citizenship. Additionally, she has received recognition for her policy leadership as a manager of teams working in the field of immigration. She excels at doing business across borders and working on multicultural teams. During her travels abroad for work, she has met hundreds of people, and making connections with people from other cultures and supporting others has always been her favourite part of work.

A native of Montreal, Élisabeth Marchand Proud is a certified English-to-French translator (CTINB). She holds a certificate in translation studies from McGill University and a bachelor’s degree in translation from Université de Moncton. She works as a freelancer for various clients and well-established translation agencies throughout the Maritimes and the rest of Canada, and has solid experience in the fields of marketing, social innovation, tourism, environmentalism, and education. Élisabeth is truly passionate about translation and eager to advocate for the profession and its defining quality standards.

Ève Normandin-Corriveau has always been a “words person” and knew that she wanted to make a career out of her passion. It is no surprise that, while reading a novel one day, she began to dream of becoming a translator. She studied translation at Université de Montréal and worked in a translation agency for several years before going out on her own as a freelancer. Ève is known for her ability to use terminology consistently, and isn’t afraid to ask questions to dig deeper into a topic. Skilled in multiple fields of translation, Ève is specifically interested in marketing, charitable work and the retail industry. In her free time, she frequents as many book clubs as possible and participates in scouting activities.

Having taken a roundabout way to the profession, Alexandra Marquis studied literature, creative writing, and psychology before discovering the world of translation. She now specializes in marketing, advertising, and literary translation, in addition to having received training in gender-neutral and inclusive writing. She is comfortable in a range of language variations, including translating into both Canadian and Metropolitan French from Canadian, American, and British English, for translation, localization, and transcreation projects. Alexandra now lives in Quebec City after having lived in France, Brazil, England, and Northern Ireland, and travelling to more than a dozen countries. A curious person by nature, she continually pursues training on translation and entrepreneurship.

Sébastien Chicoine started learning both of Canada’s official languages at a young age, and was already bilingual by the time he started school. He studied the liberal arts (specializing in film at Cégep Garneau in Quebec City) and obtained a multidisciplinary bachelor’s degree in history, communication, philosophy, political science, and translation which he began at Concordia University and completed at Université Laval. Having worked as a translator since 1991, he has gained experience in nearly every field, including engineering, marketing, winemaking, fine cuisine, the sciences, tourism and legal translation. Last but not least, he worked as a journalist and director of the Arts & Culture section for the national news and media website Canoë from 2000 to 2009. Sébastien translates in both directions (French<>English).

Ambrosia Noyes is a French-to-English translator with a long-standing interest in linguistics and communication. Prior to becoming a translator, she worked in both Washington D.C. and Paris, and then moved back to her beautiful home state of Maine (USA). She spent over fourteen years as a French teacher at the high school and university levels passing on her love of language, adventure, and learning. Bringing these experiences into the translation field, she specializes in education, immigration, finance, and business. She holds a Master of Science in translation from New York University and is a member of the American Translators Association.

Beth Smith is an ATA-certified French-to-English translator living near Houston, Texas (USA). She holds a master’s degree in French from SUNY Binghamton and a certificate in French-to-English translation from New York University. She specializes in advertising and marketing (especially for cosmetics and luxury goods), entertainment, and literary translation. She has translated two thriller novels, a collection of short stories by Edouard B.W., a book about happiness and finance, and an e-book about solo travel. Beth won the ATA Rising Star Award in 2020.

A certified English-to-French translator originally from France, Henri Gazeau holds a certificate in translation from Université de Montréal. Nearly 30 years of experience in the field has made him a specialist in numerous domains (including IT, telecommunications, engineering, construction, management, banking, social work, human rights, and the environment) for businesses, the private sector, and NGOs. An OTTIAQ member in good standing and avid reader, he lives near Montreal and enjoys tennis, music, and photography.

Andie Ho is an ATA-certified French-to-English translator specializing in translation for the food industry, as well as fields as diverse as cosmetics, mathematics, and the legal industry. She lives near Houston, Texas (USA) and holds an M.A. in Translation from Kent State University (USA). In her free time, Andie volunteers with EFGH, a French school in Houston, and reads extensively, over 50 books a year, to immerse herself in different voices and languages. Her preferred translation style is direct and semi-casual to engage modern audiences.

When Andie’s not translating, she is working towards her black belt.

At the outset, Pauline intended to stay in keeping with family tradition by becoming a teacher. After obtaining two bachelor’s degrees in Language Teaching (English and French, respectively), her future seemed clear. She taught for a few years before a combination of circumstances led her to branch out into editing and translation. She has retained a strong interest from her past life in all things related to children, especially autism spectrum disorders. She is also passionate about people, family, education, psychology, and the environment. As a lifelong learner, she continually updates her skills by taking courses of all kinds.

Elizabeth West is an English copy editor and proofreader and a certified French-to-English translator (OTTIAQ). Her lifelong fascination with words and stories has led to a decade-long career translating and editing everything from magazines, novels, and board games to financial documents, marketing material, and annual reports. Elizabeth is a firm believer in the power of clear, accessible, and inclusive writing to convince and compel readers. Her love of language has taken her from Toronto all the way to Nantes, France, and back again via Quebec City and Ottawa, Canada.
